Summer Style Goals and a Sleeveless Top

Summer is a difficult time style-wise for me because I am picky about patterns, and I can’t always rely on that third piece or accessories to get my contrast levels when it gets hot. I’m being brave an posting a pic without anything covering my arms just to get used to the idea.

I like the watercolor neutral floral fabric of this top mixed with jeans and taupe cage sandals with white soles to connect with my hair. The silky shell and duster front of this “Origami Wrap” add some glamour.  Jeans and cage platforms add the Grit.

My summer goals include getting more comfortable with sleeveless tops, wearing more dresses and skirts, and finding some light and breezy third pieces, I want to swim 3 days a week which I hope might help with feeling more comfortable about my arms.

Your arms look GREAT to me. I, too, am a bit self-conscious about my upper arms, especially after losing weight. The style and print of your top is very flattering, and you don't appear to have the "flappy" arm issues I fear. When the weather is hot, you not only deserve to be cool and sleeveless, but you will look great doing it!

I love that tank! The bracelets are perfect with it too.
I see no problem with your arms, but swimming is great for triceps, if that’s your concern.
My son was apparently never aware of “bat wings” before he noticed mine the other day…sigh. I hope to be rid of them by the end of the month, between swimming & lifting.

Agreeing with Echo! You look fab with and without sleeves! Love the color palette here and those sandals are fab!

I have to say I love the sleeveless top on you even better without the topper. Your arms look terrific! I don’t have lovely arms or legs. I have cellulite and crepey skin already, just a stupid genetic thing I cannot really control. And yes, I have arm flab — I’m just not willing to make a career out of trying to make it go away, I just keep trying to stay active and strong. Oh, and I have KP, those pesky little bumps too, I have prominent arm and leg hair (less so after menopause), and I’m pale and freckly. But I wear sleeveless and shorts in the summer because it’s more comfortable. If people are gonna judge my body, they’ll find something to judge. I figure my exposed arms will make other women feel better about their own, LOL!

Thanks so much Echo, Stag, Kelly and Janet!
My skin is getting crepey too and my once sculpted arms are flabby with cellulite and I would prefer not to wave at anyone in a sleeveless top, but who cares?  Probably just me, LOL. Everyone is worrying about their own issues so I doubt they care about mine. I appreciate the encouragement.

Off to a great start on the sleeveless look :D

  • cat2 replied 1 year ago

Great idea to wait for the right print. Summer can be a sea of nautical prints.

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Thank you Rachylou and Cat2 I’ve noticed rd there are a lot of “ditsy” prints out there right now. Not my favorite but maybe it’s a part of the prairie look.

I love the colours and pattern on the tank.  It looks so good with your jeans and sandals.  Your arms look good to me.  I am not as firm as I was.  My goal is to start wearing shorts again.

You have gorgeous arms, and look KILLER in that sleeveless top! Full stop :)

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

I love what Janet said. And agree with Angie too!

Looking awesome! Love the muted floral pattern of the shirt :)

Sleeveless looks absolutely wonderful on you, and that is such a pretty top. I am self conscious about my crepey arms, but not willing to overheat so I go sleeveless anyway.

This is a great summer look.  Very stylish and sophisticated.

Great outfit, with and without the topper. YLF!

Your arms look beautiful, like the rest of you. Lovely outfit!

  • Jessikams replied 1 year ago

Fab! I see healthy nice arms.

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

YLF and have fab arms and should wear sleeveless without worry or thoughts about what others think…

Great outfit, I love the print of the top. I have the same issues with summer dressing. AC means I need a third piece but I have to also be able to go without when I get warm, unlike colder weather when I know I will leave it on. I also hesitate to show my arms but what the heck, probably no one is paying any attention besides me!

Are you kidding? Your arms look fab! And so do you! The whole outfit is great. I love the tank --  it's beautiful on you. And the bracelets add a really nice touch. The touches of metallic and white are a real summer treat -- I like to do this, too. Said by someone whose skin is also not what it once was but who still goes sleeveless. So there.

This is really, really great outfit, maybe one of my top favorites of all of your posts.  Are those the Sorel sandals?  and WHERE and WHAT is that top.  I will stalk it .... if a recent purchase, post a find or link!

  • slim cat replied 1 year ago

Looks great all together! Arms are fine - should wear more sleeveless tops ;) .

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

    Thanks everybody!

Andi, those are Sorel sandals, and the top is a reversible shell from WHBM. I have a couple of them and love that not only can I wear them inside out for a different pattern, they can be turned back to front if I want a scoop neck vs a Vneck. This one reverses to light blue.  I’ll edit my post to add Finds. I found it on Poshmark, but I do think they still make different patterns from time to time.

You look absolutely beautiful in that top. Thanks for posting the outfit. I’m definitely stuck in a loop regarding my many imperfections, and I find the comments and your honesty very inspiring.

  • replied 1 year ago

Love both versions! And, there is nothing wrong with your arms!

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

Lana, you look sensational in this top and I prefer it without the topper. Your arms look great. I do get the concern about less firm skin but I think we all need to relax about our ageing bodies, which is easier to say to you than do myself! Here you look beautiful, dressed in clothes that fit and flatter your body and colouring, you are a style inspiration.

These are not summery, but they made me think of you https://mobile.yoox.com/de/117.....;sizeId=-1

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Wow! Love them so much. I couldn’t open the link but copied and pasted to get to the page. I would definitely wear those.
