Outfit for the Pool

I’m trying to swim 3 days a week so here’s a real life outfit for going to the pool with friends. These are new linen blend trousers from Nic & Zoe and I’m scared to take them to the pool because they were expensive and I don’t want to ruin them.  But isn’t that kind of ridiculous? I’m going to take them off to get in the pool obviously and fold them up in my bag so why do I feel this way?  Probably because they are new!  Need to get over it. They are easy going and comfortable, nice and cool.

Grit: hiking tee, snakeskin sandals
Glamour: dandy fedora style hat, linen sarong for the pool

Haha! I can relate to the not wanting to ruin things. I try to keep the "if not now, then when will I wear it" in my head. This looks great and I can imagine the linen will dry quickly and be cool for summer!

    KILLER CHIC

Your white hair is all sorts of awesome, Lana!

Your items are there to be worn. I'm sure your new pants will be fine at the pool :)

Great! My pool outfit is a big flowy Tommy Bahama cover up and some Jack Rogers jellies.

Thanks Kelly Angie and cat! I’m wearing them woo hoo! I got a few very cheap knit dresses to wear as coverups and I was tempted to change it to that but I’m being brave.

That’s a good outfit—simple and attractive. I have a ridiculous number of pool cover-ups, board shorts, tunics, sarongs ;) ;) ;) Most of them don’t get worn.

    Very fancy!

It’s memories of the middle school pool. That’s why we worry ;)

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Oh Rachylou I never thought of that! It all went well, I took them off to swim and no damage to precious pants.

Thanks Nikki, I feel quite dashing in it.

Thank you merwoman, cardiffgirl, Star and Stag! We had fun.

A great outfit. My swimming cover up is also put back on with wet bathers (as I don't have anywhere to change after swimming in the ocean), so I go with a relaxed pair of woven cotton shorts and either a shirt or hoodie in cooler temps.

Perfect and stylish pool outfit ! Those pants are great.
Recently I did the same with a pair of "nice" pants at the seaside. I wore them to go to the beach.  After all you take them off when you arrive and put them into the bag. And if the get stained, you just wash them!

    Love!
but…and maybe its just me, i try never to wear nice things where there will be a lot of sunscreen and/or chlorine. I just can’t seem to keep sunscreen from getting everywhere.

  • replied 1 year ago

    Love the sandals especially!
I feel that way about taking nicer things to the pool too, even though I used to go straight after work. Maybe I feel like I'm not completely dried off and still have pool chemicals on my skin?

  • Star replied 1 year ago

I agree with KKards.  I am definitely on team wear and not keeping things for special occasions, but exposure to chlorine and sunscreen may be tempting fate for a new, special and pricey item.

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Thanks everyone, it was funny because I didn’t put them back on and just walked to my car with a towel around my waist, LOL. I didn’t want to get chlorine or sunscreen on them, plus I was still damp.  I think once the newness wears off I won’t care as much.

Driving home in a wet suit? No thank you. I shower at the pool. Even at the height of Covid when locker rooms were closed and we had to change on the side of the pool, I changed everything right there. Lots of people did.

ETA, a few years back, when Merkel was chancellor, a British tabloid published a pic of her with a sliver of tushie hanging out as she changed out of her suit at a lake. Germans were furious, not at her for changing that way (I’m sure Americans would find it undignified or scandalous) but at the invasion of privacy.

Fantastic ... Love gray and white for summer.

  • Brooklyn replied 1 year ago

Simple and chic. Love the hat.

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Stag, I would not hesitate to do a deck change like Ms. Merkel if I needed to, but I was going home so could shower there. :)

    Thank you Helena and Brooklyn!

Love the outfit, so harmonious with your coloring. I understand your hesitation about wearing new items. I have been more relaxed about it recently- I just remember how many almost new pieces I donated over the years, I may as well destroy them and not save them for donations :)

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

So true Anchie, you and me both!
