Lilac Pink Skirt and Chelsea Boots

I took a little artistic license and am wearing a lilac pink flouncy skirt that feels like a tulle skirt to me.  I find it hard to style, so I played with Angie’s first tulle skirt outfit formula here:
https://youlookfab.com/2022/04.....lle-skirt/

Outfit 1
Knitted top: Soft rose brown thin cashmere wrap sweater, tucked
Tulle skirt: Diagonal ruffle lilac pink skirt
tailored boots: Pewter Chelsea boots
Moto jacket:I think I need a pewter or silver sheen moto!
Accessories: lilac and magenta scarf, magenta leather cuff bracelet, silver bag with chain strap

Outfit 2
Knitted top: lilac tee tucked
Tulle skirt: Diagonal ruffle lilac pink skirt
tailored boots: gray snakeskin Chelsea boots
Moto jacket: Chanel style flecked white and gray woven moto with dark zippers (too long?) or med gray suede
Accessories: Gunmetal bracelet, hematite necklace and lilac and gunmetal earrings

Inspiration in last pic.
Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

That skirt absolutely has the same feeling! Love the color play in #1 & the shape of the jacket in #2. Well done!

What a lovely skirt and in such a beautiful colour.l agree that you have definitely captured the tulle skirt vibe despite not having a tulle skirt.

SOOOO FUN! Pretty, romantic, alluring, plus a bit of tough. Very you!

#3 and #4 are my KILLER faves! Do you have white boots - I think so! They would work well too.

Pretty looks - all fab! Love the pic#2-3 - very light, soft contrast, great play on different textures.

  • Star replied 2 years ago

Love these!   1 and 4 are my favorites with the more contrast-y top.  Have you tried your lilac combat boots?  They may work too.

These are all great outfits--nicely done! I especially like the second one; that jacket is stunning on you and looks fab with the skirt. Does the jacket in 3 go with the outfit in 1, say, if you needed a topper?

    All great mixes.

All very pretty mixes. I love your off the shoulder sweater.

Have you tried your lilac combat boots with this skirt?

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

    Fun! Flirty! :)

Thank you SF, CG, slimcat, Rachylou , Cat2!

Angie, I have some pearl gray combat boots and some bone suede wedge booties, snakeskin booties, plus knee high bone boots which I’ve never worn. I have a lot of boots! LOL. Will put them in finds below.  They would probably all work to add light.

Carol and Star, I have not tried this with my lilac combat boots. Duh, how did I miss that? I think I definitely look better with some value contrast.  Thank you for reminding me, more playing to do.

Sharan, that would definitely work and I could switch to white boots as Angie suggested.  You all are giving me more ideas, thank you.

I love how you’ve taken the inspiration photo and created excellent outfits that are unique to your own style. Have you tried the pewter Chelsea boots from outfit #1 with outfit #2? I think they would add a bit of shine as a counterpoint to the tweed jacket. Maybe a silver bracelet too instead of the gunmetal?

  • Lana replied 2 years ago

Thanks Missvee, I’ll try that!  Pewter or light gray would work really well here and adding a silver bracelet is a good idea with the pewter boots. All of the sudden I have more options with this skirt.

I am suddenly feeling better about my own rather substantial boot collection…. Maybe the pearl grey wedge boots with the tweed jacket?

  • Lana replied 2 years ago

Cat2, And I still want more boots.  Hahahahah
Those would be the best I think too.  Better than the original snakeskin.

I especially like it with the darker jacket but the lighter jacket and lighter boots sounds great too. Definitely caught the tulle skirt vibe without the tulle skirt!

  • Zaeobi replied 2 years ago

That's a beautiful skirt - what a breezily flattering shape, with the romantic flounces!

I like the off the shoulder jumper too - a cross between a bardot & wrap neckline? That sort of medium taupe/ mole brown colour suits you well :)

I LOVE these! And I love it that the boots are almost flat. Modern.

Why do you find the skirt hard to style? Is it the frill or the split or both? (Or something else?) I ask because I have a skirt with a similar shape. I love love love the colour and pattern but something about the silhouette (which is similar to yours) feels difficult.

  • Lana replied 2 years ago

Brooklyn, your skirt is so pretty! I feel like mine is really girly especially with a ruffle plus the lilac pink color. The fabric is soft and chiffon like so feels dressy. I feel like I need some other dressy element to connect it to the outfit but my lifestyle is very casual. I don’t wear pumps or strappy heels. I think with a feminine top I can add some masculine or casual elements like boots and a moto. When Angie said wear heels or tailored boots a lightbulb went off in my brain.

Thank you Jaime and Zaeobi! I love the mole color — it’s a perfect cool brown.

Beautiful skirt and I think you styled it so successfully here. I understand why it might be difficult. I had a pair of lilac culottes -- not even as dressy as this skirt -- but they always felt hard to style because they seemed too "girly" for me.

  • Lana replied 2 years ago

Suz, I have a pair of lilac jeans and have never been able to wear them without feeling uncomfortable.  Maybe I’m just not a colored jeans person.

is it even possible to own to many boots, (asking for a friend)
i really like all of them, but i'm especially taken with the scarf in #1, which looks to be a perfect color match
i'm a simple dresser, (and quite boring)--i'd wear the tall creamy white boots, with a creamy white sweater and the scarf worn as a shawl

  • Lana replied 2 years ago

KK that sounds gorgeous!  I’ll try it next time it’s cold enough. (Adds outfit to Stylebook). I tend to not wear much pattern — just in scarves and tops occasionally but they are subdued.

  • Debbie replied 2 years ago

All of these outfits are great. You have given me some ideas that I am going to try and play with tomorrow. I love your skirt!

  • Jonesy replied 2 years ago

All of these work well; my fave is #4 because of the pleasing contrast between the skirt and jacket, plus I love that mole color :).

Such a pretty skirt and lots of good ideas here! Your boot collection is fabulous! I love boots but always feel guilty buying more but they are essential right?
